How we check facts, and how we make money
What we cover
We start from the questions travellers keep asking in travel communities, and write the pages that answer them properly. We focus on the practical side that changes most often: entry rules, apps and payments, transport bookings, and opening hours.
How we rank places
Place guides are ranked by how many travellers' posts mention the place in each country's travel communities over six months. For Taiwan we counted posts from May to October 2026. The rank shows where travellers' questions are, not which place is best.
How we check
- Every fact is checked against an official source, such as a government site, an operator or an app's own help pages, and tested first-hand where we can. We link to the page we checked: tap or point at the small number after a fact to see it.
- Every guide shows the date its facts were last checked.
- We check each guide again at least every 60 days, and sooner when a rule is due to change.
Corrections
Rules and apps change without notice. If something on a page is out of date, email fixes@alleyhops.com with what you saw and when. We check it again and update the page and its date.
How we make money
- Some links earn us a commission if you buy, at no extra cost to you: tours and tickets, rail passes, eSIMs and car hire. Pages with these links say so at the top.
- Commission never decides what we recommend. If the best option pays us nothing, we still recommend it.
- We don't accept payment for coverage, and we don't link to insurance or financial products.
