The Golden Bridge, held up by two giant stone hands, at Ba Na Hills near Da Nang

Give Da Nang two or three days: a beach city with Ba Na Hills, the Marble Mountains and the Son Tra peninsula all within a short ride. Stay near My Khe beach or the Han River, and fly into Da Nang airport. Go between March and August; September to December is the wet season.

How long have you got?

  • One day: Marble Mountains in the morning, My Khe beach, then the Dragon Bridge at 21:00 if it is a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
  • Two days: add Ba Na Hills on its own day, then Son Tra and Linh Ung Pagoda.
  • Three days: add the Hai Van Pass, or ride the train over it to Hue.

Getting there and around

If it doesn’t go to plan

  • Storm or heavy rain? Skip Son Tra and the Hai Van Pass, where roads turn slippery and foggy, and do Han Market and the Marble Mountains caves instead.
  • Missed the Dragon Bridge show? It runs Friday to Sunday only, so plan your dates around it.
  • Ba Na Hills too wet or crowded? The ticket’s cable car is valid for three days, so come back the next morning.
